"I came to the Money Confidence Workshop not really knowing what to expect. I have always found money talk a bit stressful, but the session felt nothing like that. The facilitator explained everything clearly and never made anyone feel silly for asking questions. I went home with a worksheet I actually filled in that same evening — which is not something I would normally do."

"The Toolkit & Circle has been quietly useful in ways I did not expect. The planners are simple but they work — I have been using the monthly one for three months now and I can see where my money goes in a way I never could before. The community circle is relaxed, not intense. People share small wins and that is genuinely motivating."

"I completed the Women's Literacy Programme in March and I honestly feel like a different person with my finances. Not dramatically — I am not suddenly wealthy — but I understand my spending patterns and I have a plan for saving that I actually stick to. The certificate at the end felt meaningful. I framed it."

Maran, Pahang
"I drove from Maran for the workshop and it was worth every minute of the journey. The group was small which helped. I struggle in big rooms where I feel like I should already know things — here it did not feel that way at all. The facilitator checked in with everyone individually during the worksheet activity, which I appreciated."

"The community circle sessions are a highlight for me. I am a homemaker and most finance content I have come across seems written for people with full-time salaries. Here the discussions are actually relevant — managing a household budget, planning for school fees, saving on a variable income. Real talk, not theory."

Pekan, Pahang
"Eight weeks felt like a long commitment when I registered but I ended up looking forward to every session. The life-stage framing really helped — week five was specifically about money after having children and it was exactly what I needed to hear. The group was supportive throughout and the facilitators never rushed anything."
March 2025 · Women's Literacy ProgrammeParticipant Journeys
A closer look at how three women approached Mintara and what shifted for them over time.
Aisyah, 34 — Homemaker, Kuantan
Starting Point
Aisyah managed the household finances entirely on instinct. She had no budget, no savings habit, and a vague feeling that money disappeared faster than it should — but she did not know where to start changing that.
Her Path with Mintara
She joined the Money Confidence Workshop first, then the Toolkit & Circle. The combination gave her both the foundational knowledge and a community to stay accountable with.
What Changed
Within three months, Aisyah had a working monthly budget and a small emergency savings pot. She now facilitates her own family conversations about household spending — something she says would have felt impossible before.
"I just needed someone to explain it without making me feel bad for not knowing."
Liyana, 28 — Teacher, Pekan
Starting Point
Liyana had a steady income but saved almost nothing at the end of each month. She knew the basics of budgeting in theory but struggled to apply them in a way that actually stuck beyond the first week.
Her Path with Mintara
She enrolled in the Women's Literacy Programme and committed to all eight weeks. The structured weekly progression helped her build habits gradually rather than trying to change everything at once.
What Changed
By the end of the programme, Liyana had set up a simple two-account saving system she still uses. She estimates she saves roughly 15% more of her salary each month than she did before joining.
"The weekly rhythm was exactly what I needed — not a one-day thing I would forget."
Maryam, 52 — Retiree, Kuantan
Starting Point
After retiring early, Maryam needed to think differently about money for the first time. She had always had a salary arriving each month — now she needed to manage from savings and a small pension.
Her Path with Mintara
Maryam came to the Workshop first, then joined the Circle. The life-stage session in the Literacy Programme — which she audited — particularly resonated with her circumstances.
What Changed
She now has a clear picture of her monthly outgoings and a simple way to track them. She says the biggest shift was confidence — feeling less anxious when she looks at her accounts because she understands what she is seeing.
"I was worried it would be too basic or too young for me. It was neither."
